ABOUT THE FILM

Determined to seek justice for her son’s death, a woman
single-handedly changes the relationship between local families and the police for the better.

OUR GOAL

Our goal with Uncommon Allies social impact campaign and grassroots screenings is to spark discussion and inspire movements for change and offer forums for informed dialogue in the classroom and in the community. The film and social impact campaign has the power to create both awareness and tangible change: better relations between the police and the community it serves and more citizens feeling comfortable providing crime tips and information to law enforcement.

Uncommon Allies

Thursday night at Arts KC, Jon Brick presented a 30-minute version of his film, "Uncommon Allies," a documentary of one mother, Rosilyn Temple, and her fight to end violence and homicide by bridging the gap between grieving communities and law enforcement. Here’s a trailer. www.documentary.org/film/uncommon-allies

The Arts KC gallery was transformed into a movie theater for an audience of approximately 60-65 attendees. A panel including Rosilyn Temple and several law enforcement professionals followed the screening. The film is about the dedication of these people to community peace. Being in the same room with them was quite overwhelming. Arts KC is proud to support this project!
